Join us February 25, 2022 at the Marquette Mountain Resort for the inaugural Marquette Winter Games Opening Ceremony! All registered athletes and spectators will receive free admission.

Athlete Check-In: 5:30 - 7:00 PM

Opening Ceremony: 7:00 - 8:00 PM

What to Expect

  • Athlete Check-in sponsored by UPHP

    • Athlete check-in will include an athlete bag, credential, sponsor giveaways, and more!

  • Volunteers sponsored by PFN

  • Parade of Athletes

  • Entertainment

    • There will be fireworks during Opening Ceremony produced by Great Lakes Fireworks.

    • A pro rail jam competition - judged by guest judges and YOU - will take place during Opening Ceremony!

    • Olympians scheduled to appear:

      • John Kusku - Goalball Paralympian 2016, 2020; 1 silver

      • Gary Morgan - Racewalker 1988

      • Craig Kressler - Speed Skating 1980

    • Nick Baumgartner, Olympic GOLD MEDALIST, will be speaking about his experience at the 2022 Winter Olympics. 2/23/22 update: Unfortunately, Nick will be unable to join us due to a COVID close contact.

  • Lighting of the Cauldron

  • Rail Jam Competition

    • The ski and snowboard rail jam competition (register here) as part of the State Games will take place after Opening Ceremony.

  • Cold Weather

    • Opening Ceremony will take place outside so dress warm!
