The Negaunee Rod & Gun Club is located in the heart of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and offers unparalleled, year-round rifle, pistol and shotgun shooting opportunities. Participants in the .22lr Rifle Benchrest Competition will shoot a series of three (3) American Rimfire Association (ARA) .22lr benchrest targets that are set at a distance of 50 yards while enjoying the comfort of the Club’s enclosed and heated firing points. Each firing point (10 in total) is equipped with its own bench and seat. Participants should plan on providing their own benchrests, sandbags, seat cushions, etc. for use at their assigned firing point shooting station.

The Club’s Skeet, Trap and Compact Sporting Clays ranges will also be open and available for use between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM on February 8th and 9th. The cost is $10.00 per round of 25 clay pigeon targets. The Negaunee Rod & Gun Club offers a spacious clubhouse that is equipped with tables and chairs, a kitchen, and two restrooms. Lunch and refreshments will be available for purchase at a nominal fee (cash and credit cards are accepted).

Targets:

American Rimfire Association (ARA) .22lr benchrest targets will be utilized for the .22lr Rifle Benchrest Competition. • Para Archers: Will compete in any of the above categories, Senior and lower (no Para category in 50+, 60+, or 70+). Please register for the category of choice, and indicate you are a Para.

SHOOTING CONSIDERATION/RULES

We will be using electronic scoring, so each archer MUST have a unique email (login only) and cell phone number. This is to allow everyone to be in the system, no matter which archer will be scoring.

Equipment must meet FITA rules, with arrows having a diameter of 9.3 mm or less. We will follow USA Archery dress code.

We will shoot two rounds of 30 arrows for each day. We will be following USA Archery’s ruling on timing for the tournament.

Archers will be assigned a target and will be grouped with others for group scoring. Archers should be familiar with tournament scoring. No sky-drawing. Non-archers (including coaches and parents) are not allowed down-range without specific permission from the Tournament Director.

OVERVIEW

The West Michigan Archery Center (WMAC) is an archery education and practice center, focused on introducing people to the sport of archery, and on developing fundamental and advanced archery skills for archers in West Michigan and beyond. The event will take place at the West Michigan Archery Center in Rockford, Michigan. Archers will register and select a time to shoot. Archers will shoot a total of 120 scoring arrows. There will be concessions available during the 2024 event.

VENUE INFORMATION

Range:

The Club’s Skeet, Trap and Compact Sporting Clays ranges will also be open and available for use between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM on February 10th and 11th. The cost is $10.00 per round of 25 clay pigeon targets. Participants will need to provide their own shotgun, ammunition and safety gear if they intend to enjoy a round of Skeet, Trap and/or Compact Sporting Clays while visiting the Club.

Clubhouse:

The Negaunee Rod & Gun Club offers a spacious clubhouse that is equipped with tables and chairs, a kitchen, and two restrooms. Lunch and refreshments will be available for purchase at a nominal fee (cash and credit cards are accepted).

Targets:

American Rimfire Association (ARA) .22lr benchrest targets will be utilized for the .22lr Rifle Benchrest Competition. The Negaunee Rod & Gun Club utilizes a target scanning scoring system for quick and accurate scoring. Each target will be scored with a perfect score being recorded as 2,500 points.

Safety:

Safety is paramount at the Negaunee Rod & Gun Club! Competitors are expected to review and abide by all Range Safety Requirements before participating. Each participant must abide by all Range Safety Officer instructions at all times and they must sign the Negaunee Rod & Gun Club’s Waiver and Release form (available the day of the event).

The use of eye and hearing protection is mandatory! The use of an Empty Chamber Indicator (ECI) is also required. Swimmers may use any stroke for their swim and change strokes throughout their 1-hour swim. Each member of a relay will swim their 1-hour race individually and their yards from their individual race will be combined to get the relay's results. Each relay member must be registered individually. Individuals in a relay do not need to swim their relay portions at one time or in succession.

Individual Race
Individuals will have 1 hour to swim as far as possible. Meijer State Games of Michigan medals will be given in each category based on the total distance swam in the allowed time.

Relay Race
Relay Teams will consist of three divisions: 3 male, 3 female, or 4 mixed (2 male and 2 female). The relay will be scored on the cumulative yardage of each member from their individual swims. The top relay teams in each division will be awarded Meijer State Games of Michigan medals based on the cumulative distance each member swam in 1 hour. Each relay member MUST be registered for the individual event in order to compete as a relay.

Small and Large Teams
The team score will be based on the average yards swam from the individual event. The first-place team in both the small and large team divisions will be awarded a Meijer State Games of Michigan High Point Champion banner. Each team member MUST be registered for the individual event in order to compete as a team.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

Step 1: Register for the individual event above. See below for additional information on how to register for relay/ team events.

Please enter the names of all participants when prompted to do so, completed by the coach or parent/guardian.
