All information on classification AND separate shooting category can be found here: https://www.usarchery.org/resources/national-classification-policies-and-procedures-200123150754.pdf

  • Please note that classification category is NOT the shooting category. There is NO Para category for any 50+, 60+, or 70+ Category. Paras shoot Senior and below, depending on age.

Trad Categories: Trads will be registered as Barebow or Recurve since USA Archery does not have Trad categories for outdoor tournaments.

Fixed Pins: Fixed Pin Category is only for JOAD/Youth archers, U21 and below. All adult (Senior and above) Fixed pins will be registered as Compound category.

SHOOTING CONSIDERATIONS/RULES

This event will be a Double 72-arrow USA Archery-sanctioned event and will follow USA Archery Rules, World Archery Rules, and USA Archery dress code.

We will shoot one round of 72 arrows each day.

Archers will be assigned a target and will be scoring together as a bale. 3-4 archers will be scoring together. Archers should be familiar with tournament scoring. We will be using electronic scoring, so a unique cell phone number will be required for each archer, If some do not have cell phones, please let Liz (the tournament director) know so we can set up a tablet (youth archers only). Only one cell phone per bale will be needed, so some archers will not need to utilize their phones. However, we will not know until the day of the tournament who will be electronically scoring on your bale.

No sky-drawing. Non-archers (including coaches and parents) are not allowed down-range without specific permission from the Tournament Director.

For Para archers, if an advocate is needed, or you will be providing an advocate, please note that on the registration form. Keep in mind: the archer will remain at the line (or under an umbrella or tent for sun/rain protection) during scoring if they have an advocate.

There will be concessions available during the 2024 event.

OVERVIEW

The West Michigan Archery Center (WMAC) is an archery education and practice center, focused on introducing people to the sport of archery, and on developing fundamental and advanced archery skills for archers in West Michigan and beyond. The event will take place at the West Michigan Archery Center in Rockford, Michigan. Archers will register with all available info noted (age class, bow type, Para type, etc.). Archers will shoot a total of 72 scoring arrows per day (six-arrow ends using targets noted above).

Ron Carr Memorial
Shooting Sports - Pistol

In fond memory of former Grand Rapids Rifle & Pistol Club President Ron Carr (3/22/1956 - 10/25/2021) who left the club far better than he found it. His contribution to the club, junior shooting sports, and the State Games has been immense and will be everlasting. Those that competed with or against him will never forget his ever-present smile, no matter the result. Ron's passion for precision shooting challenged us all to pursue that ever elusive perfect shot, even in the face of adversity.

  • The Gold standard is the standard set up by the Kodokan. One throw (from USJA: Gokyo, no waza) will be chosen by the panel and will be executed by all competitors. The second throw is a Tokui-waza (favorite technique) and thus is chosen by the competitor.

  1. All throws will be executed on a crash mat for safety.

  2. Judo protocol of bowing into the mat, the panel of judges and to each Tori and Uke will be observed.

  5. The competitors will be ranked based on the total points for 2 throws each given and 2 throws received for a possible total of 40 points.

The Negaunee Rod & Gun Club is located in the heart of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and offers unparalleled, year-round rifle, pistol and shotgun shooting opportunities. Participants in the .22lr Rifle Benchrest Competition will shoot a series of three (3) American Rimfire Association (ARA) .22lr benchrest targets that are set at a distance of 50 yards while enjoying the comfort of the Club’s enclosed and heated firing points. Each firing point (10 in total) is equipped with its own bench and seat. Participants should plan on providing their own benchrests, sandbags, seat cushions, etc. for use at their assigned firing point shooting station.

The Club’s Skeet, Trap and Compact Sporting Clays ranges will also be open and available for use between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM on February 8th and 9th. The cost is $10.00 per round of 25 clay pigeon targets. Participants will need to provide their own shotgun, ammunition and safety gear if they intend to enjoy a round of Skeet, Trap and/or Compact Sporting Clays while visiting the Club.

Clubhouse:

The Negaunee Rod & Gun Club offers a spacious clubhouse that is equipped with tables and chairs, a kitchen, and two restrooms. Lunch and refreshments will be available for purchase at a nominal fee (cash and credit cards are accepted).

Targets:

American Rimfire Association (ARA) .22lr benchrest targets will be utilized for the .22lr Rifle Benchrest Competition. The Negaunee Rod & Gun Club utilizes a target scanning scoring system for quick and accurate scoring. Each target will be scored with a perfect score being recorded as 2,500 points.
