The Opening Ceremony for the 2024 Meijer State Games of Michigan – Winter Games is just over two weeks away. The Opening Ceremony, sponsored by Northern Michigan University, will take place at the Marquette Mountain Resort (4501 M-553, Marquette, MI 49855) on February 9th starting at 6:30 p.m. This event is free to the public.
After successfully hosting a northern Michigan hub of the Meijer State Games - Winter Games in Marquette for the past two years, the State Games of Michigan (SGOM) has tapped the nonprofit Great Lakes Sports Commission (GLSC) to act on its behalf as official host of the northern Michigan hub of the Winter Games in Marquette starting in 2024.
The opening ceremony will start with a Parade of Athletes and continue with honoring our veterans, special guest appearances, entertainment, and fireworks. The competition is open to everyone and with limited on-site registration available. Marquette will give you the crunch of snow with every step, fill your lungs with fresh air, and the familiar feeling of what winter should look like.
Officials with the Michigan Sports Alliance announced that registration has begun to open for the Meijer State Games of Michigan – Winter Games sports hub in Marquette, Michigan. Officially one year out from the newly added Games, Travel Marquette has signed on as the host organization to ensure a successful launch into the new market.
