Swimmers may use any stroke for their swim and change strokes throughout their 1-hour swim. Each member of a relay will swim their 1-hour race individually and their yards from their individual race will be combined to get the relay's results. Each relay member must be registered individually. Individuals in a relay do not need to swim their relay portions at one time or in succession.
Individual Race
Individuals will have 1 hour to swim as far as possible. Meijer State Games of Michigan medals will be given in each category based on the total distance swam in the allowed time.
Relay Race
Relay Teams will consist of three divisions: 3 male, 3 female, or 4 mixed (2 male and 2 female). The relay will be scored on the cumulative yardage of each member from their individual swims. The top relay teams in each division will be awarded Meijer State Games of Michigan medals based on the cumulative distance each member swam in 1 hour. Each relay member MUST be registered for the individual event in order to compete as a relay.
Small and Large Teams
The team score will be based on the average yards swam from the individual event. The first-place team in both the small and large team divisions will be awarded a Meijer State Games of Michigan High Point Champion banner. Each team member MUST be registered for the individual event in order to compete as a team.
