Cross Country Skiing
Grab your skis and poles for our Cross Country Skiing event during the 2023 Winter Games in Marquette! This Olympic-style event welcomes athletes from across the Midwest and will also include an Opening Ceremony. 9:00 AM: 5km & 10km classic XC races
11:30 AM: 1km adaptive race
2:00 PM: 5km & 10km freestyle XC races
Onsite registration is available up to a half hour before the event starting at 7:30am

ELIGIBILITY
Michigan, Minnesota, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Wisconsin*, and Canadian athletes are welcome to participate at the Marquette Winter Games.
*If you are a Wisconsin athlete looking to compete in hockey, figure skating, cross country skiing, or ski jumping, please email Julie at jshields@stategamesofmichigan.com prior to registering to get permission from the Badger State Games to participate.
EVENT HOST
Ishpeming Ski Club was founded in January of 1887 and was originally named the Norden Ski Club before being changed to Ishpeming Ski Club in 1901. Due to the long history and ongoing spirit of the skiing community in the area, Ishpeming was made the host city for the U.S. National Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame. The Ski Clubs mission is to put on quality competitions while also directing efforts towards youth in the surrounding area, including all youth and junior ski programs provided free of charge. The Ishpeming Ski Club is known to have some of the best ski hills in the country!

All divisions will have male and female categories.
Age determination date is 2/12/23
EVENT DETAILS
This event will be part of the Marquette County Cup Series, and will be the fourth event in the series.
Registration closes 2/8/23.
AWARDS
Gold, silver, and bronze medals will be awarded for male and female in each division.

OPENING CEREMONY
Join us as we officially kick off the Winter Games in Marquette on Friday, February 10 at the Marquette Mountain Resort.
All athletes are welcome to attend and join the athlete parade. Opening Ceremony in Marquette is sponsored by Northern Michigan University.
