MEIJER STATE GAMES OF MICHIGAN SUMMER INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
Grand Rapids, MI., Mar. 15, 2023 ─ Officials with the Michigan Sports Alliance announced that they are now taking applications for summer internship positions. The positions available are listed below.
Event Operations:
The Event Operations intern will assist with event logistics and operations such as athlete recruitment, volunteer recruitment, equipment/merchandise distribution, hotel coordination, updating event information on website, registration, schedule creation, and other duties as assigned.
Hockey Coordinator:
The Hockey Coordinator will assist the Hockey Director in all aspects of the Hockey tournament, including, but not limited to: registration, recruitment of players, organization of tryouts, updating of website, communication with players/parents, schedule and scoring, creation of athlete bags, and other duties as assigned.
Accounting:
Internship duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting with daily/weekly/monthly accounting functions of a nonprofit and its related entities, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit card reconciliation, month-end reconciliation, financial reporting, transaction tracking, report generation, event support, and other duties as assigned.
Video:
Works to promote the Meijer State Games of Michigan by creating short videos to promote events, filming/editing interviews, doing Facebook live-streams of major events (Opening Ceremony and sports events), and other duties as assigned.
Graphic Design:
The graphic design intern will focus mainly on digital design for the web & social media. Applicant needs to be skilled in Adobe Creative Suite with an emphasis on Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.
Media/PR:
Works to develop relationships with local and statewide media to increase the awareness of the Meijer State Games of Michigan by writing and distributing news releases, coordinating news interviews, writing blogs, media guides, result coordination, assisting with event operations, and other duties as assigned.
The current deadline to apply is March 31st but may be extended if the position is not filled. The internship will start at the beginning of May and go until the end of June or the middle of July. Students can complete their internship credit through this opportunity. The start and finish of the internship can be adjusted to fit the student's schedule and internship requirements. Internships will take place at the West Michigan Sports Commission office at 300 Ottawa Ave NW, Suite 240, Grand Rapids, MI 49503. Interns should expect to work 15 – 20 hours weekly in the office with weekend event work during the Meijer State Games of Michigan Summer Games. These internships offer hands-on experience working with a close team in the office. All levels of degree-seeking college students are encouraged to apply. Qualified candidates should have an interest in sports or events. The students that would benefit most from the different internships are those going to school for sports management, marketing, business, graphic design, accounting, and similar majors. Internships are also available during the winter months of January through the end of April.

About the Michigan Sports Alliance:
The Michigan Sports Alliance (MISA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit established in 2016 to encourage Michigan residents of all ages and abilities to live active and healthy lives.
