10 Years of Meijer State Games Medals
The Meijer State Games of Michigan released their 2019 medal design! The unique, new medal features a blue, stained-glass-esque background that surrounds the image of Michigan and the Meijer State Games logo in a way that can only be described as Great Lakes inspired beauty. This medal makes its debut in time for the celebration of the Games’ 10-year anniversary this year. Take a walk with us through 10 years of Meijer State Games of Michigan medals.
2010-2012:
The summer of 2010 introduced us to the inaugural Games which featured the first ever Meijer State Games of Michigan medals. These medals were retired after the 2012 Games.
2013-2016:
The second medal design was introduced for the 2013 State Games and was featured at the inaugural Winter Games in 2014. These rectangular medals were the first and only medal to feature the full color Meijer State Games of Michigan logo. Custom ribbons for each year’s Summer and Winter Games also debuted with these medals. The medal bid farewell to the Games at the end of 2015.
2016-2019:
The next Meijer State Games of Michigan medal design was rolled out in 2016. Featuring an antique finish and slight cut-outs of the logo, these medals definitely made a statement. The medal was featured in the 2016-18 Summer Games and 2017-19 Winter Games
2017 State Games of America:
In the summer of 2017, the Meijer State Games of Michigan medals took a break as we hosted the State Games of America and debut the SGA2017 medal. Featuring a shiny finish and cut-outs around the star, these medals were only available during the Summer of 2017.
2019 Medal Debut:
The 2019 medal features the image of Michigan on a stained glass-like background. This medal will be used for the first time during the 2019 Meijer State Games of Michigan Summer Games!
