Details Released for Meijer State Games of Michigan – 2019 Winter Games

Opening Ceremony will be on February 15 

Grand Rapids, Mich., Jan. 24, 2019 – The Meijer State Games of Michigan – 2019 Winter Games will offer 17 sports at 15 different venues with an estimated 2,500 athletes. The Meijer State Games of Michigan continues to add events to the lineup, which allows people of all age, gender and ability level to compete. There are 22 days left until the Opening Ceremony (Feb. 15) scheduled to take place on the Winter Games main weekend of February 15th-17th.

The Meijer State Games of Michigan has partnered with the Grand Rapids Griffins this year for its opening ceremony. The Grand Rapids Griffins will be hosting “Meijer State Games of Michigan Athlete Night” on February 15th at 7:00 pm located at Van Andel Arena. The first 300 athletes that purchase their “Athlete Night” tickets will get the opportunity to participate in the on-ice Athlete Parade during the first intermission. Additionally, the first 150 athletes will get the opportunity to high-five the Griffins starters inside High-Five Alley. The parade and High-Five Alley are open to all Winter and Summer athletes.

The sports offered at the 2019 Winter Games are: Archery, Archery Tag, Badminton, Basketball, Bowling, Cross Country Skiing (Freestyle and Nordic), Darts, Disc Golf, Fatbike, Fencing, Karate, Shooting Sports, Speed Skating, Swimming, Try-Athlon, Weightlifting, and Wrestling.
