Meijer State Games of Michigan Looks for Volunteers

Grand Rapids Business Journal by David Czurak The West Michigan Sports Commission is looking for volunteers to help with its signature event, the Meijer State Games of Michigan, and it would like to have at least 901 individuals give their time to help make version 4.0 of the annual event another success. Why 901? Because in the past about 900 have volunteered for the weekend games that will take place this year from June 20-23. Meijer State Games of Michigan Announces Opening Ceremonies Details

Only a month remains until the Opening Ceremonies will kick off the fourth year of the West Michigan Sports Commission’s signature event, the Meijer State Games of Michigan. The Opening Ceremonies will be held June 21 at Fifth Third Ballpark (4500 West River Dr, Comstock Park, Mich.) starting at 7 p.m. Prior to the Opening Ceremonies, festivities will consist of an Athlete Village, Athlete Leadership Summit presented by the Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital, and a 5K race. Olympic Track and Field Medalist Comes to Brighton

Brighton Patch by Tatum Ryan Judi Brown-Clark, former Olympic hurdler, will be at the Brighton Meijer on Friday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. helping to register participants and volunteers for the 2013 Meijer State Games of Michigan. Hartland Games Gold Medalist to Compete in Meijer State Games of Michigan

Returning for his third Meijer State Games of Michigan experience, Brian Rysberg is just looking forward to the competition in what he calls the “biggest and best tournament in Michigan.” The Traverse City, Mich., resident will be competing in the male doubles division of pickleball. Rysberg, 72, has competitively participated in sports all throughout his high school, army, and college years. Meijer State Games of Michigan Announces National Anthem Contest Winner

After two weeks of Facebook voting, the results are in for the winner of the Meijer State Games of Michigan national anthem contest. Lauren St. Andre received the majority of the votes and will perform the national anthem at the Opening Ceremonies. The Opening Ceremonies will be held June 21 at Fifth Third Ballpark in Comstock Park, with an estimated 6,000 people in attendance.
