Meijer State Games Tournament Director Spotlight:

Kurt Luttermoser, Skateboard/BMX Freestyle

Kurt Luttermoser, founder and managing partner of AGA Nation, enters his sixth year as the tournament director for both the skateboarding and the freestyle BMX competition, which takes place in Grand Haven. Kurt has worked in the sports entertainment field for over 20 years, including with the Detroit Tigers as the Director of Florida Operations, along with the marketing department at the Central Florida Development Council and the marketing department for the NBA Development League. Prior to starting AGA Nation, he worked with the Detroit Pistons in their marketing department, which included the 2004 NBA Championship season. 
Kurt started AGA Nation, which is an action sports agency that focuses on bike and board sports. “I saw a shift in traditional team sports and was always fascinated by the skill level and dedication the riders devoted to their craft, I am always in awe of what they can do,” Kurt explained.

AGA Nation first started with the Grand Haven competition in 2009. In 2010, AGA started working with the West Michigan Sports Commission for their inaugural signature event, the Meijer State Games of Michigan.
When it comes to athletics, Kurt said, “The best part of any sport is to see how the athletes conduct themselves on and off the field. I try to focus on the best attitudes, business practices, and try surrounding others with positive athletes and thinkers.” 
When asked about being part of the this year’s Meijer State Games of Michigan, Kurt responded, “It is a great event and it fits with the mission and goals of AGA Nation of promoting youth sports, while showcasing the best athletes in their respective sports. As a tournament director, I like to think we host one of the best skateboard and BMX competitions in the Midwest.”
At this year’s event, Kurt and AGA Nation will look to manage a fun, safe and competitive event that draws the area’s best athletes and spectators. Kurt has a set a goal to keep growing the number of competitors and showcasing the next generation of riders, while keeping the momentum of the event going.

In August 2017, the Meijer State Games of Michigan will play host to the
2017 State Games of America.
